Experimenting

This is where I explore new materials, techniques, and ideas in surface pattern design. It’s all about experimenting and discovering unique possibilities.

-1-

Smocking technique creates a structured, three-dimensional pattern, with fabric gathered and stitched into intricate, repeating folds.

Layers of fabric are stacked on top of one another and precisely cut open to reveal a vibrant interplay of textures and colors beneath the surface.

Fabric, manipulated using heat, is combined with paint. Resulting in an abstract composition with dynamic textures and a flowing, aquatic aesthetic.

Flax series

This series investigates the unique properties of flax through experimental techniques like weaving, layering, and manipulation. Each piece highlights its texture, strength, and versatility, revealing how flax transforms under tension, moisture, and other conditions. The work serves as part of a broader material study, uncovering flax’s natural qualities and its practical applications.

Textures -1-

The next few pieces explore texture and form, aiming to develop versatile designs that can serve as backgrounds, understated elements in larger compositions, or stand-alone patterns. By experimenting with materials, the series focuses on creating subtle patterns that enhance and complement broader design concepts.
